Jennifer Adams’s Edgar Gets Ready for Bed!
Tomorrow is National Children’s Book Day, so today’s post is all about my favorite children’s books.
Honestly, I could name a million children’s books from my childhood–The Stinky Cheese Man, Grimm’s Fairy Tales, my main man Seuss–but I thought for my post I’d pick one of my favorite books that I have gifted recently to multiple friends.
I am in love with Jennifer Adams’s Babylit collections that have come out within the past few years. I started buying them for my friend’s little girl before she could even read, and it has become a baby shower staple for me. Adams expertly distills classic tales such as Romeo and Juliet, Frankenstein, Pride and Prejudice, and Alice in Wonderland into color, number, letter, and even fashion board-book primers. BabyLit classics give just the right amount of class and book nerdiness for any baby occasion.
However, Jennifer Adams’s new first-reader series inspired by Edgar Allan Poe’s writings is even more unbelievably delightful. With three books–Edgar Gets Ready for Bed, Edgar and the Tattle-Tale Heart, and Edgar and the Tree House of Usher–Adams has created a quirky, adorable series about a sassy raven named Edgar and his sister Lenore. Just look at this cutie-pie!
When I first read Edgar Gets Ready for Bed, I didn’t want to give it up! It is seriously so cute and perfect for any kid learning how to read as well as any adult who wants to expose children to classics at a young age.These will definitely be my go-to gifts forevermore!
