This post is for all my Believelanders! This week we will be celebrating our home town of Cleveland, Ohio. During #WriteinCLE week, we will be showcasing some of our favorite literary traditions and institutions as well as  discussing some of our favorite literary spots in Cleveland.

Now that summer is approaching, we wanted to give you a definitive list of great literary resources to get your Lit & Love on this summer here in Cleveland. By the by, most of these events are absolutely 100% FREE! So you have no excuse to not make the most of the literary scene this summer!

Special Events

1. Shakespeare’s First Folio Tour

What a mid-summer night’s dream to walk among the first published pages ever penned by Shakespeare. This is my biggest must this summer. Due to Shakespeare’s 400th birthday, the Folger Shakespeare Library is sending Shakespeare’s first folio on tour.  This folio will stop in one major city in all 50 states over the next year or so. It will be shown at the Cleveland Public Library from June 20th to July 30th. In order to view the works, you simply have to make an online reservation! You can also register for a free guided tour from a Shakespeare expert every Wednesday from 5-6 🙂

2. Brews & Prose Reading Series

If you have not checked out Brews & Prose, you are truly missing out of one of the most unique experiences in Cleveland. Sarah and I have been HUGE fans of Brews and Prose since we started going two years ago. Every 1st Tuesday of the month, Dave Lucas, recent winner of the Cleveland Arts Prize,  and the rest of the Brews & Prose gang present a casual, yet powerful reading series. Here’s a feature article on B & P if you want to learn more!

3. Shakespeare in the Park

Throughout June and July, the Cleveland Shakespeare Festival will be performing in various parks and outdoor spaces around the greater Cleveland area. I absolutely love Shakespeare performed outside. 4. Literary Cleveland Book Swap Party

Literary Cleveland, a non-profit organization attempting to enliven and showcase the thriving literary community in Cleveland, is throwing a book swap party! Search around for some books you no longer want or will not read, and pick up some new reads! Basically, for each book you bring, you will receive a raffle ticket that you can use to exchange it for another book someone has brought to the party. This is a great way to add to your summer reading list as well. Need some ideas on some books to bring to the party? Check out our Book Club Summer Reading List & our Top 5 Book Club Books from Our Booze & Book Club.
